Deans' Foreword

Welcome to the Kulliyyah of Archtecture and Environmental Design at IIUM. The Kulliyyah is comprised of six departments which offers five programmes: Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying, Landscape Architecture and Applied Art and Design. All programmes are concerned with quality of life and lifestyle issues of the nation and the ummah ranging from sustainable environmental design to product design and conservation ethic imbued with Islamic weltanschauung . Our students and academic staff come from different backgrounds and nationalities that provide excellent opportunities for cross-cultural engagement within the teaching and learning environment.

The Kulliyyah is committed to excellence and quality in the delivery of its teaching programmes. The programmes are constantly reviewed and monitored by profesional bodies so as to ensure quality outcomes required by the markets in an increasingly demanding and competitive in local and international environment. All the programmes are seemed to maintain its relevancy to the professions as they are professionally accredited by their respective Boards. It is made possible as we have a good combination of qualified academic staff and highly experienced and skillful supporting staff plus excellent facilities available in the Kulliyyah.

The Kulliyyah feels proud on strong and constructive links with its students and reckons its educational role evolving out of a cordial partnership between its staff and students all the time. Our aim is to provide our clients, the students particularly with a sense of identity, purpose and confidence after graduating and most importantly to serve the ummah in humble and effective ways. Finally, this humble effort to outreach the readers and users is made possible by many people which needs my personal gesture of congratulation and sincere appreciation. May Allah SWT bless us and give us every strength to fulfill our duties for the sake of Him towards all the ummah.
